Phishing is an attack when a fraudster spams the internet with an email claiming to be from a reputable financial institution or e-commerce site. They want you to click on a link to update your personal information or perform some transaction. When you click on the link it takes you to a phoney website that has been made to look like a legitimate site. When you enter your personal or financial information you are actually sending it straight to the scammer.
