Pandemic

A pandemic is a global epidemic or an outbreak of an infectious disease that affects peopleor animals over an large geographical area. In the past there have been several "pandemics", i.e., Cholera, the Black Death, small pox, whooping cough,etc. The world is currently trying to create a vaccine for the Avian influenza, also known as bird flu. Avian flu is a type of influenza virulent in birds or chickens. Avian influenza spreads in the air and in manure. Wild fowl are often carriers, spreading the flu to domestic stocks. It can be transmitted by contaminated feed, water,equipment and clothing. There is a thought that perhaps cats are also thought to be possible infection carriers for the H5N1 strain of avian flu.
